A super satisfying dish made from readily available products is pea porridge with sausage. Nutritious pea porridge by adding pieces of sausage, fried with onions, turns out to be incredibly flavorful and nutritious – a simple, tasty, and budget lunch.
We wash the peas thoroughly, changing the water several times. Then put the peas in a deep bowl, fill with clean cold water and leave for at least 2 hours. This pre-soaking will help the pea porridge cook much faster.
Then we drain the water and transfer the peas to a saucepan. Pour in about 700 ml of cold water, set to maximum heat, and bring to a boil. Then we reduce the heat to a minimum and cook the peas for about 40-45 minutes until completely boiled.
Peel the onion and cut it into small cubes.
We release the sausage from the factory shell and cut it into medium cubes.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat. We spread the onion and stir fry for about 6-7 minutes, until soft.
Add the sausage and, stirring it, fry for about 6-7 minutes, until a light golden crust appears on the sausage.
Add salt and pepper to the finished pea porridge. We mix.
We send the fried onions with sausage to the pan with pea porridge. Stir and simmer on low heat for about 5 minutes.
Hearty pea porridge with sausage is ready. We lay it out on plates and serve it to the table.
