The peanuts are a discovery of the Incas. They not only ate them, but also gave them to the grave of their dead and depicted them as a decorative motif on pots. The Spanish conquerors brought the peanuts to Europe.
Put the peanuts, broth and milk in a heavy saucepan. Cook everything at medium temperature for 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Simmer gently for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Season with salt and pepper and sprinkle with chives.
