Instructions

  1. Bring the poppy seeds to the boil in half of the milk, half of the sugar and raisins and then let soak for at least 10 minutes.
  2. During the swelling time, scald the almonds with hot water, peel, finely chop and add to the poppy seed mixture.
  3. Cut the bread into thick slices and place in a second bowl.
  4. Mix the rest of the milk with the rest of the sugar and soak the bread slices with it. Layer the swollen poppy seed mass alternately with the bread slices in a glass bowl, leave to cool for at least 2 hours. Serve only then.
  5. We also drink mulled wine or warm wine.
