Instructions

  1. Warm up the milk. Separate eggs. Beat egg whites until stiff. Mix the butter with sugar and vanilla sugar until frothy, stir in the egg yolks one at a time. Mix the flour with baking powder, gradually adding to the butter, alternating with the milk, until a thick dough is formed. However, it should not be too viscous, but should still fall loosely from the spoon. Fold in the egg whites. Season with lemon peel. Let the dough swell for about 30 minutes. Bake the waffles in portions with the waffle iron. Makes about 12 waffles
  2. Serve sprinkled with powdered sugar.
  3. If you want, you can also eat the waffles with Nutella, cream, strawberry jam or garnish the waffles with sugar or chocolate sprinkles.
