Instructions

  1. Depending on the heat you want, you can take chilli cabanossi or normal, chilli kidney beans or normal and also adjust the amount of chilli powder to the desired degree of heat.
  2. Cut the bacon (completely!) Into larger cubes. Quarter the onions and cut into coarse strips. Cut the Cabanossi lengthways and cut into slices. Cut the garlic cloves into small cubes (do not press!). Open all cans. Drain the kidney beans on a sieve. Provide spices.
  3. Preheat a saucepan or pan on the swivel grill and add a little rapeseed oil. Then add the diced bacon and fry briefly. Then add the onions and sweat briefly together with the bacon. Before the onions are translucent, add the cabanossi. Let everything sizzle together until the Cabanossi are nicely roasted or the onions have taken on a little color.
  4. Then add the tomatoes including the juice from the can and crush the tomatoes. Now add the baked beans including the tomato sauce and then the drained kidney beans. Stir everything in well and bring to the boil. Now add the finely chopped garlic cloves. Let everything cook for 15-20 minutes over medium heat. Stir well every now and then, otherwise the beans usually all sag down.
  5. Attention! When using the swivel grill, put the wood on it beforehand or pull the pan up further so that you get a medium heat.
  6. Finally add the herbs, spices and yoghurt and let everything simmer for another 5 minutes while stirring. The bean pan (or pot) is ready
  7. A fresh black bread cut into slightly thicker slices tastes very good with it.
  8. As a passionate Spencer / Hill fan, I have tried various bean pan recipes over the years. Some were good, some less. However, I have never found a recipe for a real Bud Spencer bean pan - the way I had always imagined it. Over the last few years I have slowly put together my own hearty recipe, which has now established itself at various celebrations and festivals. I have refined the recipe over the years so that you get all the ingredients in such a way that nothing is left of the ingredients afterwards. It should be noted that the pan or the pot can be made sharp or not, hence the reference to chilli in some places.
  9. Also possible on the swivel grill, here always make sure that the pan does not get too hot due to the fire;)
