A salad with ham, cheese, fresh carrots, and apples, as well as boiled eggs and pickled onions, is an excellent dish for a festive table. Thanks to the carrots and apples, the salad is juicy and very fresh. Salad is dressed with mayonnaise.
Boil the eggs hard-boiled for about 8-10 minutes in boiling water. Then cool the boiled eggs in cold water.
Peel and chop the onions into thin half-rings. Marinate the onions to remove excessive bitterness. Toss the onion, sugar, and salt. Pour in wine vinegar and boiling water.
Leave the onion to marinate for 5-7 minutes. Then drain all the liquid with a fine sieve.
Cut the ham into cubes.
Grate the cheese on a fine grater.
Grate the carrots on a fine grater. The juicier and sweeter the carrots, the better.
Peel and seed apples. Grate peeled apples with a coarse grater. If sourness is lacking, sprinkle the grated apples with lemon juice.
Peel the eggs and grate on a fine grater or chop finely and finely.
Collect the salad in layers in the following order: pickled onions, ham, cheese, carrots, apples, eggs. Repeat the layers, with the last layer of cheese. Salt each layer if necessary and grease with a minimum of mayonnaise.
If desired, the salad can not be laid out in layers, but put all the products in a salad bowl, season with mayonnaise, and mix.
