Peel the onion and cut into half rings. Peel the carrots, cut into pieces approx. 5 cm long, cut these pieces lengthways into slices.
Heat some neutral oil in a wok, add the onions and carrots as well as a little brown sugar and let caramelize a little. Stir again and again. Depending on the taste and sweetness of the teriyaki sauce, a little more sugar can be added later.
Wash the pak choi, remove the dead leaves. Cut the stalks into 2 cm thick slices and add to the onions and carrots in the wok. Sear it hot, after a minute add the five-spice powder and the teriyak sauce. Simmer for 10 minutes, then add the pak choi leaves, also cut into strips. Let simmer briefly, add the sesame seeds and stir in.
Tastes great with meat as well as with rice or Asian noodles.
