Instructions

  1. We start with a delicious waffle batter. Add the soft butter, maple syrup or honey, sugar and vanilla sugar to a bowl and whip the whole thing until the mixture looks really nice and airy.
  2. Then you add the eggs and stir them well into the mass until everything has combined. Please make sure that the eggs do not come straight out of the refrigerator, because the butter will then set again and everything will not combine so nicely. Take the eggs out of the fridge half an hour to an hour before you start mixing them.
  3. In another bowl you mix the flour with the baking powder and the salt and then sieve this flour mixture into the butter egg mixture, immediately afterwards the milk. This ensures that the dry ingredients are well distributed in the dough and that no lumps are formed.
  4. Then you fill the dough into 5 bowls and color it with baking food coloring. But don`t use too much color so that the tasty taste is not impaired. When coloring, it is important that you color more dough with red, orange and yellow than with green and blue. You can see why in the video.
  5. With your waffle iron, you have to make sure that you do not set the browning level too dark so that the colors still shine nicely after baking. Depending on how well your waffle iron is coated, if in doubt you should brush it with a little oil so that nothing sticks. Then it starts already. You put a blob of blue in the middle, and the other colors in circles around it.
  6. For the vanilla clouds (which are really delicious) mix the sour cream with the maple syrup or honey and the sugar.
  7. In another bowl, whip the cream, mix the cream stiffener and vanilla sugar mixture and let it trickle in while whipping. Mixing it with sugar is always important when it comes to the cream stiffener, otherwise lumps will quickly form.
  8. Then you lift the cream under the sour cream and the cream is ready. With a little extra maple syrup and the vanilla clouds, the rainbow waffles are then ready to serve.
