Instructions

  1. Remove the tendons from the beef, wash and pat dry. Salt and pepper. Peel the mushrooms, spring onions and gherkins and cut into small pieces. Peel and squeeze the garlic (or cut it into small pieces if you don`t have a garlic press). Cut the bread roll in half lengthways
  2. Preheat the oven to 200 ° C top / bottom heat.
  3. Heat the oil in a pan and fry the beef in it until it is almost cooked through. Put the meat aside in a bowl and collect the resulting gravy (if there is none, use bouillon instead).
  4. Now fry the spring onions, garlic, gherkins and mushrooms in the same pan until the mushrooms get a good color. Add the meat and stir everything together. Add the meat stock (or stock) to the vegetables. Add the cream as you like. It shouldn`t swim in the sauce, it should just be juicy. Now add tomato paste and possibly parsley and season with Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Stir everything until it becomes a homogeneous color. If it is a bit dry, just add some more cream.
  5. Place the roll halves in the oven for a maximum of 3 minutes.
  6. Scatter cheddar cheese evenly in the pan and stir everything carefully.
  7. Place the lower halves of the rolls on plates, distribute the mixture on top and place the upper halves on top.
  8. French fries, sweet potato fries, wedges or other unhealthy side dishes go well with it.
  9. If there is anything left over from the mass, you can also use it the next day with ribbon noodles or spaetzle. Then it is best to add a little cream again when frying, as the mixture becomes very stiff.
  10. Note: I saw this fast food dish for the first time in the movie Creed - Rocky`s Legacy. Since there are many ways to prepare cheese steak, I have put together my own creation. I hope I can help some amateur cooks with it.
