Soak the baked fruit in cold water the day before.
Put the bacon in a saucepan, just cover it with water and cover it over a low heat and let it simmer for 1 hour. Then add the baked fruit with the soaking water and the spices and simmer for another 35 minutes. Season to taste with a pinch of sugar and thicken with the mixed cornstarch. Remove the bacon, cut into slices and add again.
