Instructions

  1. Chop the onions and garlic into small pieces and sauté in the butter until golden. Depending on the size of the frying pan, fry the shredded meat in portions or all at once. Put everything in a saucepan or something similar (which you can put covered in the oven), add beer and salt. The pot is now in the oven for 2 - 3 hours at 125 degrees so that the meat can become nice and soft.
  2. Meanwhile, the potatoes are boiled and then processed into mashed potatoes with milk and salt.
  3. For serving, a nest is formed from the mashed potatoes, in the middle of which the shredded meat is placed. Garnish with cranberry jam and a dollop of butter.
  4. The recipe given is the basic form of the sliced reindeer, as it is served in every restaurant etc. in Finland.
  5. My tip:
  6. - If possible, take small new potatoes, boil them unpeeled and only mash them on the plate with butter to a pulp.
  7. - with fresh cranberries instead of jam, which you can sweeten with a little sugar depending on your taste, it is even more delicious.
  8. - If you don`t like it so meat-heavy, you can add more sauce and vegetables (e.g. carrots).
  9. - You can prepare the dish with other game meat if you don`t get reindeer meat.
