Bring the water, vinegar, sugar and spices to the boil. Peel the onions, cut in half, cut into thin slices, add them to the stock and let them simmer for about 15 minutes.
Heat the butter in a saucepan, add the flour and stir-fry it. Stir these into the stock shortly before the end of the cooking time. Let the sausages steep in the brew over low heat. Season to taste with salt, pepper and sugar.
It tastes better if it goes through for a few hours.
Boiled potatoes or a farmer`s bread go well with it.
