Sort the rice and wash it under running water. Cut the onion into rings. Melt the ghee in a saucepan and fry the onion in it. Add the ginger, garlic and salt to the onion in the saucepan and stir everything well.
Add rice, cumin, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon sticks and peppercorns to the pan and fry everything 3-5 while stirring. Pour in the water and bring everything to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer covered until the water is absorbed and the rice is cooked through. Pour the spiced rice into a bowl and serve immediately.
