Shower the strawberries with cold water and clean. Halve large fruits. Also wash the limes thoroughly under cold water and rub dry well. Cut into wafer-thin slices with a sharp knife.
Put the strawberries and limes in a punch bowl and sprinkle the sugar over them. Mix everything well. Then pour in 1 bottle of well-chilled white wine. Close the punch bowl tightly with cling film and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
Pour in the rest of the cold wine. Stir briefly and pour on the ice-cold sparkling wine before serving.
