Wash the strawberries and let them dry on kitchen paper, cut into quarters or slices. Wash the basil, dab and cut into strips, add to the strawberries. Fold in the balsamic vinegar, sugar and pepper to taste. Possibly put the whole thing in a cool place for a short time.
Unfortunately, the lettuce looks dark pretty quickly because the strawberry`s dye penetrates the basil leaves - but it actually tastes even better after a night in the fridge.
