Make a pre-dough from the flour, yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar and the milk and let it rise for about 15 minutes.
Then add the remaining ingredients and knead the dough until smooth - let rise again for about 30 minutes.
Now shape the dough into two different sized parts. Then shape these into three equal-sized strands and braid them into braids.
Place the larger braid on a baking sheet and brush with whisked egg white and water, place the smaller one on top and brush with it as well.
Bake in a preheated oven at 160 ° C for approx. 50 minutes until golden yellow.
Tip: For New Year`s Eve, you form a pretzel out of the dough and hide a cent wrapped in aluminum foil in it - if you find it, you are the new year`s lucky child!
