Heat the wok over medium heat and add the oil. If the oil is very hot and smokes slightly, add the curry paste and stir-fry for approx. 1-2 minutes. Add the garlic and shallots and fry for another few minutes. Then add the minced meat and fry until it is cooked through and crumbly. Now add the fish sauce, coconut milk and sugar and stir-fry for another 3 minutes. Finally mix in the basil and stir-fry for about 1 minute.
