Bring the sugar to the boil with the water in a saucepan and simmer for about 3 minutes (in technical terms, this is also known as sugar syrup). Chill the sugar syrup.
Wash the strawberries, remove the stalk, halve and cut into slices. Pour the schnapps over the strawberries and let it steep until the sugar syrup is cold. Now pour the cold syrup sugar over the strawberries and let it steep for another hour.
Tip: If you let it steep overnight, the strawberries taste even better the next day.
