Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the cucumber and cut into ½ cm cubes. Wash the tomatoes, quarter them, remove the stalk and cut into pieces about 1 cm in size. Peel and dice the onion.
  2. Put the yogurt in a bowl. Add the sliced cucumber, tomatoes, onion, cumin and salt, stir everything well.
  3. Heat the oil in a small pan, add the mustard seeds, fry briefly until they start to crackle and immediately add to the bowl with the other ingredients.
  4. Mix everything together carefully but thoroughly. Chill for about 1 hour. Serve as a small side dish or as a starter.
  5. Indian mustard seeds are available as black or brown mustard seeds. It should be noted, however, that these are not just normal brown mustard seeds, as you can get them in the supermarket. Under the name brown mustard seeds one should therefore only buy those that come from an Indian company. In this respect, it is best to buy the mustard seeds in an Asian shop.
