Depending on the size, cut the washed tomatoes into quarters or even smaller, cut open the vanilla pod, put both in a large saucepan and bring to the boil. Cook over medium heat until everything has crumbled, then strain the mixture through a sieve.
Now stir the tomato juice, orange juice, citric acid and preserving sugar well, bring to a boil and cook for at least 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Do a gelling test, if the jelly is not firm enough according to your wishes, please stir another packet of citric acid into the hot mixture, bring to the boil briefly and do another gelling test.
