Drain 1 tablespoon butter in a small saucepan, fry the onion cubes and parsley in it while stirring for about 5 minutes. Mix with the bread and cheese.
Quarter, peel and slice the turnip. Line a flat baking dish with it. Season well with caraway seeds, freshly grated nutmeg, salt and pepper. Mix the crème fraîche with the cream and pour over it.
Spread the bread mixture on the turnips and put the remaining butter in flakes on top.
Bake in the oven at 180 ° C (top / bottom heat 200-220 ° C) for about 40-45 minutes until the surface is nice and brown.
As a main course it is enough for 4 people. As an accompaniment to pan-fried food or a fish fillet for 4 people, halve the quantities.
