Instructions

  1. A recipe from my father`s homeland (Bessarabia, now Moldova): just boil the potatoes in the skin until soft. Cut white cabbage into fine strips; Heat the oil in a saucepan, melt the butter in it, braise the onion until translucent and sauté the cabbage, add a little vegetable stock. Add a little caraway seeds to taste and add bay leaf to the pot; cover and cook for about 15 minutes (the cabbage should be firm to the bite); then remove the bay leaf and peel the still warm potatoes, cut into slices and fold into the cabbage. season with salt and pepper; If you like, squeeze garlic or, if you want it spicy, hot paprika.
  2. Can be eaten as a main course or as a substantial side dish for schnitzel, turkey schnitzel, breaded fish or fried eggs or the like.
