First mix the minced meat with salt, pepper, egg and breadcrumbs. Mix the onion, cut into small cubes, into the minced meat mixture.
In a saucepan (I use a pressure cooker) let the margarine brown lightly, add the minced meat mixture and fry until crumbly. In the meantime, cut the cabbage into not so thin strips and add to the minced meat. Continue to fry both, stirring, until the cabbage has got a nice brown color, not too much, otherwise it will be bitter. Season with salt and pepper when frying. Add the caraway seeds and about 200 ml of water and cook everything for about 20 minutes with the pot closed. During this time, the water should have boiled away and the herb should still have a bit of bite. You can also prepare it in the oven or another pot, it just takes a little longer.
In the meantime, prepare the potatoes as jacket potatoes.
