Halve the white cabbage, cut out the stalk. Divide into wedges, then cut them crosswise again, leaving pieces of cabbage about the size of the pasta at the end. Wash the cabbage, drain.
Put on the pasta water, cook the pasta until al dente.
Put the oil and butter in a second large saucepan (the cabbage and pasta will have to fit in later!) And let the sugar melt in it. Add tomato paste. Add the white cabbage with 1 1/2 cups of water, sauté. When the cabbage is tender, add the salt and cumin. Then mix in the pasta with a little butter, season again if necessary.
This is a typical poor man`s meal, simple but very tasty - taken over by my Viennese grandma.
Fleckerl noodles do not exist in Germany (maybe in Bavaria?), But short ribbon noodles are just as good.
