Instructions

  1. Peel and dice the onion. Melt the lard in a saucepan and sauté the onion in it.
  2. Chop the sauerkraut apart, add and sauté. Add the bay leaf, juniper berries, white wine and water and cook covered for 30-40 minutes. Check again and again that nothing burns and stir if necessary.
  3. Wash the potatoes, peel them, rinse them and grate them finely on a kitchen grater. Add 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time and cook at the same time.
  4. Season the sauerkraut with pepper, salt and sugar.
