Instructions

  1. August 1st Wegge are a pastry in Switzerland that is traditionally eaten for breakfast on August 1st, the national holiday. They can be eaten pure or coated with butter and also eaten with jam or cheese / sausage.
  2. Mix the flour and salt in a deep bowl and form a well. Crumble the yeast in a cup and dissolve it with a little lukewarm milk. Pour into the well, dust with a little flour and let rise until the yeast bubbles.
  3. Melt the butter in a pan, take it off the fire and add the milk to it. Add to the flour with the egg and work everything into a smooth dough. Knead for 10-15 minutes until the dough is elastic. Shape 1 large or 4 small rolls and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
