Instructions

  1. Beat the sugar and eggs in a large bowl with a mixer on medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes. Add flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt and milk and mix everything well.
  2. Mix the apple cubes with the lemon juice in another bowl, then add to the batter and mix well with a spoon (not the mixer).
  3. Put the fat in a high saucepan and heat it to 175 to 180 degrees C, or bring the fat to this temperature in a deep fryer.
  4. When the fat is hot, use a large tablespoon (better serving as a serving spoon) to slide the fritters into the fat in portions. When the fritters are golden brown (after approx. 2 to 3 minutes) on the side floating in the fat, turn the fritters over and fry for another 2 to 3 minutes on the other side. The fritters are done when they`re nice brown on both sides, but not dark brown.
  5. Remove the fritters from the fat with a slotted spoon, drain on kitchen paper and allow to cool.
  6. For the icing, mix powdered sugar, vanilla extract and water in a small bowl until you get a spreadable mass. Spread the glaze over the entire surface of each individual fritter with a brush, then let it dry. When the glaze is dry, turn the fritters over and coat the underside with the glaze as well.
  7. Let the finished fritters cool completely on a wire rack and leave them on until the glaze has hardened, then serve and enjoy!
  8. Note: The batter is enough for 6 apple fritters
