Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a baking sheet with baking paper.
  2. Mix the flour, baking soda and salt. Mix the buttermilk with the vanilla extract in a small bowl. Mix the softened butter with the sugar for about 3 minutes until creamy, then add the egg and stir in well. Now alternately stir in the buttermilk / vanilla extract mixture with the flour mixture.
  3. Then, with a tablespoon, put 6 piles of dough of the same size on the baking sheet, leaving enough space so that they run a little wide. Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 15-17 minutes, they should be golden brown in color. They should be firm in the middle if you press on them and make sure that the floor doesn`t get too dark. Remove and let cool on a wire rack.
  4. For the icing, the powdered sugar is first mixed with the 1 tablespoon of milk, the lemon juice and the vanilla extract. If the whole thing is still a bit too firm, you can add a little milk. But it should be a thick, not too liquid mass. This is divided and placed under half of the cocoa and mixed with 1-2 tablespoons of milk. That should also be sluggish.
  5. Half of it is now coated on an American with the black and the white cast. I always take a small cake palette to smooth out and then let the icing dry.
  6. My Americans have to be a bit bigger, the dough is 6 pieces for me. Of course, you can also make smaller ones if you want.
