Instructions
- Soften the butter at room temperature.
- Beat egg with sugar and salt. Add water and stir until sugar dissolves. Reserve a portion for glazing.
- Sift flour into bowl. Mix in roughly half the softened butter and the egg mixture. Knead into smooth dough.
- Wrap dough in foil and refrigerate for 30-40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (356°F).
- Melt the remaining softened butter.
- Roll out dough into a rectangle about 2-3 mm thick. Brush with melted butter.
- Roll dough tightly from one long edge into a log shape.
- Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Brush top with reserved egg mixture. Make small cuts about 1 cm deep across the surface.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
