Apple Strudel Instructions

  1. Soften the butter at room temperature.
  2. Beat egg with sugar and salt. Add water and stir until sugar dissolves. Reserve a portion for glazing.
  3. Sift flour into bowl. Mix in roughly half the softened butter and the egg mixture. Knead into smooth dough.
  4. Wrap dough in foil and refrigerate for 30-40 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 180°C (356°F).
  6. Melt the remaining softened butter.
  7. Roll out dough into a rectangle about 2-3 mm thick. Brush with melted butter.
  8. Roll dough tightly from one long edge into a log shape.
  9. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Brush top with reserved egg mixture. Make small cuts about 1 cm deep across the surface.
  11. Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown.
