Wash and slice the 2 tomatoes. Halve the avocado, remove the pit, scoop out the flesh, and slice it. Slice the mozzarella.
Arrange the tomato slices, mozzarella, and avocado alternately on a plate. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle with 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar.
Wash and roughly chop the 2 basil stalks. Sprinkle over the salad. Drizzle with 3 tablespoons of olive oil and grind black pepper over the top.
Optionally, drizzle with additional high-quality aged balsamic vinegar before serving.
