Instructions

  1. Peel the shallots and fry them in olive oil in a smaller saucepan. Add balsamic vinegar, sugar and enough water to just cover the shallots. Simmer in a closed pot for about 15 minutes. Open the pot and let it cook over high heat and stir until the sauce takes on a syrupy consistency.
  2. Serve the onions at room temperature.
