Instructions
- Remove stalks from the barberries, wash thoroughly, and drain completely.
- Place the barberries in a clean glass jar.
- Add the sugar and pour the rum or vodka over the berries.
- Split the vanilla pod open lengthwise and place it in the jar.
- Seal the jar tightly and place it in a light location.
- Shake the jar daily until all sugar is completely dissolved.
- Continue infusing for a total of 3 months from when you sealed the jar.
- Strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove all solids.
- Pour the strained liqueur into clean bottles and seal tightly.
