Beef rump steaks can also be made from minced meat. They are prepared in the same way as beef steak, but before frying, they must be moistened with an egg and rolled in breadcrumbs.

Beef Rump Steak Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Whisk egg and milk together in a shallow bowl.
  3. Cut beef into 1.5–2 cm thick pieces.
  4. Pound each piece with a wooden mallet to flatten into an oval shape.
  5. Season both sides of each steak with salt and pepper.
  6. Dip each steak in the egg mixture to coat, then roll in breadcrumbs until fully coated.
  7. Heat butter in a frying pan over medium heat until sizzling.
  8. Fry steaks 4 minutes on one side until golden brown.
  9. Flip steaks and fry 4 minutes on the other side until golden brown.
  10. Transfer steaks to the oven and bake for 10 minutes.
  11. Serve steaks hot, topped with melted butter from the pan.

Rump steak is served with a side dish of boiled or stewed potatoes, carrots, beans. Serve green salad separately.
