Instructions

  1. Heat roughly 2-3 tablespoons of oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Add the red onion strips and sauté for 3-4 minutes until they soften.
  2. Sprinkle some flour over the onions and stir well to coat them evenly.
  3. Pour half of the beer into the pan and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Season with caraway seeds, chopped thyme, salt, and pepper to taste.
  5. Add the remaining beer and let it simmer for another 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Meanwhile, in a separate pan, heat roughly 2-3 tablespoons of oil over medium-high heat. Add the steaks and fry for 3-4 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 63 °C / 145 °F.
  7. Place each steak on a serving plate and spoon the onion beer sauce over the top.
  8. Serve with French fries, croquettes, or hash browns.
