Boil the potatoes. Then peel off the peel and let the potatoes cool down. Now press the potatoes into a large bowl using a potato press. Now add the flour, semolina and egg. But don`t knead yet! Then melt the butter in a pan and add it to the potatoes. Add the milk. Now add the spices and knead the whole mixture vigorously. Seasoning is very important so that you can add a little salt or nutmeg (depending on the type of potato).
Now bring water to a boil in a large saucepan. Shape the dough into medium-sized dumplings with cold, wet hands and add a slotted spoon to the boiling water. Leave the dumplings in the boiling water for about 15-20 minutes. Remove the finished dumplings with a slotted spoon and serve on a flat plate.
They are best served as an accompaniment to all kinds of roasts and red cabbage.
Important: never serve dumplings in a bowl, otherwise they would stick together.
