Roughly dice the onions in a saucepan and sauté them in heated oil. Cut the cabbage, carrots and peppers into strips. Add to the onions, braise well and add the finely chopped clove of garlic.
Finely chop the canned tomatoes. Mix in the dill and the remaining ingredients well and season with salt. As always, the salad tastes best if it has a few hours to sit through. A delicious side dish with grilled meat.
