Herring canapes are a great snack for a homemade buffet table. Sandwiches with soft cheese and herring can be easily prepared in the country or at a picnic.
Slice the rye bread into convenient small pieces. Peel the herring from the head, tail, bones, and entrails, cut the herring fillet into pieces. Wash and dry onions and dill.
In a convenient bowl, combine the soft curd cheese, chopped dill, pepper, and salt to taste if necessary.
Place a teaspoon of cheese mass on each slice of bread.
Put a piece of herring on top of the bread and cheese.
Garnish the cheese and herring sandwiches with a chives feather.
