  1. Slice rye bread into small pieces.
  2. Prepare the herring: remove the head, tail, bones, and entrails, then cut the fillet into pieces.
  3. Wash and dry the fresh dill and green onions.
  4. In a bowl, combine curd cheese with chopped dill, ground black pepper, and salt to taste.
  5. Spread a teaspoon of the cheese mixture on each bread slice.
  6. Top each slice with a herring piece.
  7. Garnish each canapé with a piece of green onion.
