Peel, halve, and core the 4 pears. Place them pitted side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Sprinkle with sugar and some of the spice mixture.
Bake in a preheated oven at 150°C (300°F) for 15 minutes. Remove the tray from the oven, sprinkle with cane sugar, and bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15-20 minutes until the pears are soft.
