Wash the cranberries, drain and pat dry. Mix the flour, salt, sugar and berries evenly. Gradually add the hot milk and stir until a soft dumpling is formed.
Heat the butter in a larger pan. Use a tablespoon to get the dough out of the batter and add to the pan. Press apart a little flat and bake until golden brown on both sides.
If desired, sprinkle with icing sugar and ideally serve warm with a glass of cold milk.
