Peel and cut potatoes into equal sized pieces. In a large saucepan, bring water to a boil and add potatoes. Bring to a boil again and cook for 30 to 35 minutes. Finished potatoes should be easily pierced with a knife or fork, but not fall apart.
Drain the potatoes into a large colander. Place the potatoes back in a dry pot and place on the stove. Mash the potatoes over low heat before adding other ingredients.
Turn off heat and add 1 ½ sticks of butter, cream cheese and ½ cup of milk mixed with cream.
Mix. Then season with salt and pepper. Seasonings can be added to taste.
Stir well and place in a baking dish. Place a few slices of butter on top of the potatoes and place in the oven.
Bake at 175 degrees until the butter melts and the potatoes are heated to the end.
