Mix the water, sugar, a good pinch of saffron, cinnamon stick and honey in a saucepan. Bring to the boil while stirring, then turn down the temperature and simmer gently for about 15 minutes. In the meantime, wash and halve the figs, then add them to the syrup. Let simmer again for about 5 minutes, or until the figs are soft. Then take it off the stove, remove the cinnamon stick and let it cool down a bit.
I now go and put the yoghurt on a plate in the middle and put the still warm figs around it. Pour the syrup over the figs and arrange the platter like this. Then anyone can put whatever yogurt, figs and syrup they like on a dessert plate.
