- Sauté the onions, cut into rings, until they are lightly colored, about 30 minutes. Caution: stir regularly so that they do not stick.
- Then add the jam (possibly also the chilli strips)
- and let it steep for another 5 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
- Keeps hot in a screw-top jar in the refrigerator for a few weeks.
