Chop the tomatoes and onions, sprinkle with salt and leave to stand overnight. The next day, strain through and squeeze out a little, pour into a saucepan and add chopped dates, vinegar and sugar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 45 minutes. Mix the flour with a little water until smooth and add the spices, cook for another 10 minutes.
Fill into jars, close them and then place them on the lid for 5 minutes. Makes about 6 normal jam jars. The chutney goes well with (almost) all dishes: with grilled food, fish fillet, on sausage or cheese. Totally delicious, goes away quickly!
