Switch on the oven with the top grill function to preheat to a high temperature. Grease each slice of bread on one side with mayonnaise and place on a baking sheet, greased side up. Place a baking sheet under the grill at a distance of 10 cm from the upper heater, fry the bread for about 1 minute, then brush with soy sauce and cook for about 1 minute.
Place ham slices, cucumber, carrots, and cilantro on top of the bread slices, or serve with chili (optional). Serve sandwiches with lime wedges.
