Beat the butter, sugar and salt until frothy. Bit by bit, break the eggs one by one in a cup and add. Continue to stir diligently until the last grain of sugar has melted. Carefully fold in the double-sifted flour with a fork.
Heat a hip iron (special waffle iron), add a little butter. Pour in the dough using a teaspoon, close the hip iron and bake. Roll up the gamblers into pointed bags and let them cool on a wire rack. These hipsters can be kept for weeks in a well-sealed tin can. With us, however, they are eaten in no time at all.
