Homemade Shawarma Based on the Burger “Sloppy Joe” Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the dried chili flakes and toast for 30 seconds.
  2. Finely chop the purple onion. Chop 4 garlic cloves.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the hot pan and cook for 2 minutes until softened.
  4. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add 500g minced beef and cook for 6–7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned.
  6. Stir in the canned beans in tomato sauce and the tomato sauce.
  7. Add the mustard, brown sugar, wine vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  8. Thinly chop a quarter of the red cabbage. Gently massage it with your hands for 1 minute to soften.
  9. Lay out the 3 lavash sheets. Divide the beef and bean filling equally among them, placing a portion on each.
  10. Top each portion with some of the massaged red cabbage.
  11. Add about 3 tablespoons of yogurt to each lavash sheet.
