Instructions

  1. Crumble the yeast in a bowl and sprinkle on the salt, pour the beet syrup on top. Let stand for a while, the yeast will dissolve with the salt and syrup.
  2. Then add the water and stir by hand.
  3. Stir in the diced garlic clove, olive oil, sour cream and spices. Sift the flour on it and work it in.
  4. Knead everything by hand into a homogeneous, smooth dough. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  5. Then knead well again, shape into a roll and divide into pieces of the same size, about 100 g.
  6. Grind each piece of dough and let rise under a cloth for another half an hour.
  7. Then heat up the waffle iron and grease a little.
  8. Roll out each piece of dough to the size of the waffle iron.
  9. Once the temperature has been reached, place the flatbread in the middle of the iron and let it bake until golden brown.
  10. Do this with every flatbread.
  11. They are great for freezing and then briefly baked in the stove.
  12. Go well with hearty, oriental-flavored dishes or as a side dish for grilling!
