Melt some butter in a saucepan when the butter is hot, add the onion, garlic and the beef cut into pieces. Keep stirring the meat over a low heat until it is golden brown.
Next, gradually add the water, then season the tomato and bay leaf with a little salt and pepper. Stir everything and simmer over low heat for about 1 ½ hours.
Then add the potatoes cut into cubes, the grated carrots and the 6 whole onions. Do this again for about 35 or until the vegetables are cooked through. Add the green beans cut into strips about 15 minutes before the vegetables are cooked.
