Peel the kohlrabi (thick at the bottom, thin at the top). Cut into 1 cm thick slices and then 1 cm thick sticks.
Finely chop the onion. Dice the ham (or bacon).
Heat the butter in a saucepan. Fry the ham and onion in it for 2 minutes. Add the kohlrabi. Season with salt and sugar. Cover and cook for 25 minutes. Take off the stove. Stir in the cream. Season with nutmeg.
If necessary, season with a little pepper and a little granular broth
